The R80 G/S is considered to be the world’s first “Adventure Motorcycle,” equally capable of riding off- and on-road (Gelände/Strasse). The choice of many round-the world riders; it combines light weight, large luggage capacity, and a reliable engine for highway touring. Winner of the 1984 & 1985 Paris-Dakar race, Gaston Rahier’s signature is on the optional 9.5-gallon fuel tank. First on the market with a single-sided “Monolever” swingarm drive shaft, the entire drivetrain is placed in a smaller frame than comparable BMW /7 models, DRIVINGMUSEUM making for exceptionally agile handing.
