This is a prototype car used in the design center (FIZ) for supplier and project kickoff event in 1996. It is missing some key elements like the hood bump stops and the head rollover is a curved tube in series but in early prototypes it was a single bar as this car has. It was later sent to Plant 10 for supplier use and Project reviews along with training for new people in the body shop building.

In 1998, this car was on display in the BMW Zentrum. It is photographed in the January 1998 Roundel magazine.

2014: This car was stored in BMW’s old storage warehouse. BMW Manufacturing offered it to us as a long-term loan.

2014-2016: It was on display at the BMW CCA Foundation.

7/5/2021 – 2/1/2022: The car was on display in the BMW Z Cars: Freedom and Fun exhibition at the BMW CCA Foundation / The Ultimate Driving Museum.

This car is currently housed at Thunder Bunny Racing in Greenville, South Carolina.
